Established in 1992, the Manatee Memorial Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) () nonprofit organization formed to support the health-related needs of the Manatee County community. The mission of the foundation is to provide assistance to those with health issues, help other non-profit organizations reach their full potential, and to help people obtain their educational training. The foundation places a special emphasis on the health care needs of our community and on scholarships for medical education.
It has partnered with several universities in the area and has funded the Manatee Technology and Simulation Center on the east campus of the State College of Florida in Lakewood Ranch. This center offers classes for nursing students in a hospital-like setting and utilizes advanced technology to simulate medical scenarios. In addition to its educational programs, Manatee Memorial Foundation also provides Christmas assistance programs and faith-based and character development programs for adults and youth. Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee has a list of essential items on Amazon to help infants, children, families, and seniors in Manatee County.
To keep the shelves stocked, the Manatee Food Bank relies on individuals, businesses, and organizations to feed families who are food insecure. The foundation also helps pay Manatee County electric and water companies to keep service up and running and sometimes to restore it. More than a decade ago, a foundation was created along with the Manatee Community College Foundation to provide scholarships to students and nursing technicians.
